The short version
TableSnag collects nothing, sends nothing, and stores nothing about you anywhere except inside your own browser. There is no server. There is no account. There are no analytics.
What the extension does with page data
When you click the TableSnag icon, it reads the tables on the page you are currently looking at, so that it can show them to you and write them to a file. That data stays in your browser and goes into the file you download. It is not transmitted anywhere, because the extension makes no network requests.
The extension does not read any page until you click it, and it only ever reads the tab you are on.
What is stored, and where
- Your export preferences, so the extension remembers how you like your files.
- If you buy the Pro version, your licence key.
Both live on your machine. Neither is readable by us. Clearing the extension's data or uninstalling it removes them.
Payments
If you buy the Pro version, the payment is handled by our payment provider on their own site. We never see or hold your card details. The provider issues a licence key, which you paste into the extension; the extension checks that key locally.
What we never do
- We do not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal or browsing data.
- We do not use analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising.
- We do not use anything read from a page for any purpose other than producing the file you asked for.
Permissions, and why each one exists
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
activeTab | To read the table on the tab you are on, only after you click. |
scripting | To run the table-detection code on that tab. Most modern tables only exist after the page's own JavaScript has run, so reading the original HTML is not enough. |
storage | To keep your preferences and licence key on your machine. |
downloads | To write the exported file to your downloads folder. |
Changes
If this ever changes — in particular, if a licence check ever needs to reach a server — this page will be updated before the change ships, and the store listing's data disclosures will be updated with it.
