The five things people actually get stuck on, answered properly.
It found no tables on a page
Three things it cannot read, and there is no way around them:
- Data drawn as a picture or a chart. If there is no text on the page, there is no table to take.
- Data inside an embedded frame from another site. Open that frame in its own tab and try again there.
- Browser pages — the new tab page, settings, the store itself. Extensions are not allowed to read those.
If it is an ordinary page with a visible table and nothing was found, that is a bug and worth reporting. Send the address of the page.
The numbers came out as text in Excel
Use the Excel (.xlsx) export rather than CSV. CSV has no way of saying "this is a number" — that is a limitation of the format, not of the export. The .xlsx export writes real number and date types, which is exactly what it is for.
A date came out on the wrong day
Where a date is written 03/04/2024 it is impossible to tell the third of April from the fourth of March, and any tool claiming otherwise is guessing. TableSnag flags the column instead of guessing. Check the source page for which convention it uses.
My licence key is not working
- Check it was pasted whole, with no trailing space.
- The key is stored per browser profile. A different profile, or a different machine, needs it pasting again — the same key works on all of them.
- Clearing browser data can remove it. Paste it again.
